Ode to the the Warriors of Cancer

Ode to the the Warriors of Cancer

About me

Hadi Jassim

Hi, I’m Hadi Jassim. I’m a graduate in Electronics from London University and hold a PhD in Computer Control from Sheffield University. I co-authored a book ‘People and Project Management in IT’ published by McGraw Hill in 1995. I like playing sports and have completed ten marathons so far.

Ten years ago, my partner was told she had breast cancer. Following the initial shock, she gathered her courage to fight back. The five years that followed were full of love and pain, smiles and tears, and hopes and disappointments. When she was gone, I wanted to capture what she did and how she did it in poetry and text. That inspired me to write the book ‘Tears in Paradise and a Smile in Hell’ which is briefly explained here.

My Vision

We will beat cancer

My Mission

To continue her fight against cancer

MY WORK

I Write to Defy Cancer

I wrote poetry to cheer my partner’s defiance of her illness when I had her to cheer. She fought bravely and lovingly for five years until she no longer could. I was and will always be inspired by how ‘cool’ she was in defying her illness.

I have been working on two books with our combined fight against cancer as the underlying theme. The first: “Tears in Paradise and a Smile in Hell” is now published, and the second has been submitted. As part of my defiance, I make regular modest contributions towards cancer research. I hope to do more through my publications.
